Udine, the Superintendency starts the process to protect the former Dormisch factory

by admin

UDINE. The Superintendence of Archeology, Fine Arts and Landscape of Friuli Venezia Giulia has started the process for the recognition of the historical part of the former Dormisch plant as a structure of cultural interest.

An evaluation process that will last a maximum of four months and which, since the notification of the provision, actually imposes a constraint on the asset concerned.

Basically, up to the pronouncement of the Superintendency, no interventions will be possible on the former Villa Dormisch, on the chimney and on the old monumental entrance that overlooks Piazzale Cavedalis.

To confirm the start of the process is the superintendent of the Fvg, Simonetta Bonomi, who explains how “in these weeks an independent analysis will be carried out by the experts of the Superintendency, who will have to evaluate whether to start the protection measure of the properties concerned, after having analyzed the relative documentation “.

The position taken by the ministerial body constitutes a new element, far from marginal, in the obstacle race towards the redevelopment of the area now occupied by what remains of the old brewery.

Satisfaction with the Superintendency’s decision is expressed by the Costruire Futuro association, which at the end of March had sent a formal request to start the process for the recognition of the historical and cultural value of the site in Trieste.

«We are really happy that the Superintendency has started the process that could lead to the indirect protection of the property – comments the president of the association, Antonella Eloisa Gatta -. As an association we have studied for months the legal framework within which we could move to raise the awareness of the competent institutions, also in light of the great interest shown by thousands of citizens, who with petitions and collected signatures have expressed concern for the possible demolition of the former factory. which cannot be considered a simple ruin ».

The wish of the association is that “the pronouncement of the Superintendency can at least lead to the safeguarding of the most representative part of the factory, the one composed of the monumental entrance and the chimney, which constitute real examples of industrial archeology as well as symbols of a period important in the history of our city “.

Gatta points out how «the redevelopment projects of the area should take these aspects into account, also considering that the Italian Environmental Fund has already included the former Dormisch among the historical assets to be protected precisely because of its intrinsic historical interest.

The opening of the procedure is the sign that we were right about the importance of the former Dormisch as a cultural asset of the city, a heritage of all Udine and not a simple good to be sold for a supermarket », concludes the president of Costruire Futuro. –
