Unlawful distillery discovered in Treviso: one thousand liters of grappa seized

The distillery had been cleverly hidden in a company warehouse not communicated to the competent authorities, so as to be able to produce grappa without complying with the regulations in force on alcoholic beverages.

TREVISO. The Conegliano Finance Police, with the support of the Central Inspectorate for Quality and Fraud Repression of Susegana, seized a thousand liters of illegally distilled grappa in a winery on the left Piave.

The distillery had been cleverly hidden in a company warehouse not communicated to the competent authorities, so as to be able to produce grappa without complying with the regulations in force on alcoholic beverages.

In the company premises an alembic was then found and over 9,000 liters of wine, white and red, in excess of what was indicated by the owner in the accounting records, and 850 kg. of sugar, the possession of which is strictly forbidden to operators in the sector, except for the maximum limit of 10 kg.
