SPILIMBERGO. An anticipated, awaited and important restart, which marks a new beginning of the vaccination campaign against the coronavirus in Friuli Venezia Giulia: at 3 pm on Friday 19 March, vaccinations with AstraZeneca resumed at the Spilimbergo hospital after the precautionary block and the subsequent via free by the EMA.
Considerable influx, few renunciations and trust in science, accompanied by what many of those who have undergone prophylaxis consider essential: the civic sense.
This was underlined by many, in the hospital spaces reserved for the administrations, which were carried out in an orderly manner, without hitches. The Spilimbergo vaccination center was the first to resume vaccinations with AstraZeneca in the region: there was a bit of emotion not only from the users, but also from the staff.
COMPLIED RESERVATIONS
The first people arrived at 1 pm, although the administration only began at 3 pm in compliance with the indications provided by the ministry. No controversy while waiting, just the desire to receive the first dose of the serum.
An orderly line, up to the moment of the first vaccination: it was the turn of a teacher, Luciana. «I had an appointment for quite some time – said the woman -, I haven’t thought about it much, despite the discussions in recent days: I believe that the advantages far outweigh the disadvantages. And then there are very strict rules to respect. Everything went for the best ».
On the other hand, another professor thought about it, asking her GP for an opinion. “Inevitably, due to the hammering we have suffered in the last few days, I have some doubts – he said -. I called my doctor, who reassured me. I think a bit of uncertainty was justified, but I’m here and I think I’ve done the right thing ».
PERSONAL PROTECTION AND CIVIC SENSE
Many teachers, including those vaccinated on Friday in Spilimbergo. Among these, Eva Di Giusto, who stressed the importance of doing prophylaxis also as a sign of civility, as well as for one’s own health and that of the people around her.
«I am convinced from the beginning that the vaccine is the only solution, and I have remained so even if in the last few days there has been a lack of serenity. I have faith in science, and therefore in the vaccine: the benefits outweigh the risks ».
The professor thinks this about the controversy: «I have not been able to form a clear idea, certainly a series of situations must be considered, not least the commercial one, but I leave these issues to those in charge.
Rather, I like to highlight another element, and I do it with optimism: the chain of control works. Doubts arose, checks were made and it was decided to resume using AstraZeneca: it seems to me that the system has proven to work ».
Finally, the appeal to civic sense. «I decided to vaccinate for myself and my loved ones, but also for others: there is a need for widespread sensitivity to get out of this situation. For a year we have been facing a pandemic that has overwhelmed our lives, and as teachers I see it clearly: we have deprived our children and teenagers of the opportunity to socialize, as educators we cannot remain insensitive “.
An aspect on which many teachers have focused, to testify that for a large part of the category there is a need for a shared effort also in undergoing prophylaxis.
THE MANAGER: “AN HONOR TO HOST THE DEPARTURE”
To coordinate the operations, Dr. Adriana Masotti. A job done with professionalism and commitment, but not without a pinch of emotion.
“We had a good response, even if it was necessary to delay to leave, in compliance with the instructions of the ministry – he explained -. At 1 pm there was already someone waiting, we started at 15. There were very few postponements, everything is proceeding in order.
It starts from here, Friday is a session decided at the last moment: for us it is an honor to host the resumption of the vaccination campaign with AstraZeneca in the region, an honor that is combined with the responsibility of making the operations go well ».
On the last, hectic days this is the doctor’s opinion. «They were a bit complicated days, but, in what way, we were ” stopped ” from above. In any case, we have not registered major renunciations: people are aware that those that have emerged are limited problems, whoever was on the list had no doubts and presented themselves ».
