Vaccines, Ascierto’s shield: «Safe and effective drugs» – breaking latest news

by admin

SALERNO – “The vaccines are all safe and are effective even against the dreaded variants.” Certainty in science and safety in the work done so far by pharmaceutical companies all over the world. Paolo Ascierto, oncologist and director of the Melanoma Unit of the “Giovanni Pascale” institute in Naples, throws water on the fire of the controversy. The scientist who has become a symbol of the fight against Covid since the explosion of the emergency last spring, therefore, reassures everyone. Trying to silence the more or less widespread rumors that have arisen around vaccines, amplified by the blockade of the Anglo-English drug AstraZeneca. Ascierto launched an assist to vaccines during his speech at the conference “Vivi vaccinandoti” organized by three Rotaratc clubs (Nocera-Sarno, Salerno Campus dei Due Principati and Ancona).

During the technical report, after having listed the various factors and various elements on the coronavirus that emerged one year later and were studied by the scientific community, Ascierto dwelt on the vaccination campaign and in particular on the panic generated by the AstraZeneca issue: “All vaccines are safe,” highlighted the Neapolitan oncologist. “The serums produced are all usable, also effective against all the worrying variants of Covid”. The studies already started and which will continue in the coming months will be fundamental. Because the variants, in any case, worry: “A lower immunization safety is only against the South African variant: the scarcity of cases traced so far, in fact, has consequently allowed to carry out fewer studies on this derivation of the virus”. The Neapolitan professor, then, also highlighted the importance “of the opinion of the EMA which is conducting an analysis on vaccines already approved and is studying suspicious reactions case by case”.

In comparison with the participants, then, Ascierto also focused on how an allergic subject should behave towards the administration of anti-Covid drugs. Advice that could prove very useful: «For allergic subjects like me, who suffer from pollen allergy, it is advisable to take an antihistamine three to five days before, including the same morning on the day of the vaccine. Of course, everything must be agreed with your doctor ». Many doubts of the participants to which the professor gave an answer in an event that served not only to train but also to allow for a concrete comparison with one of the protagonists of the battle against Covid: “We have decided to marry the district event “Vivi vaccinandoti” because at this moment we consider the use of the vaccine to be fundamental and to help counteract a lot of disinformation », explains Federica Tortora, president of the Nocera-Sarno Rotaract Club. “We young people have a duty to spread scientific news to counter the creation of false myths.” A synergy between clubs for the creation of awareness-raising initiatives in the medical field also praised by the presidents Vincenzo Maria Adinolfi and Nadia Versitelli who, during their speeches, reiterated the importance of relying on the opinion of eminent personalities in the scientific field in such periods as difficult as that of this health emergency.
