ROMA The request for an urgent confrontation with Draghi on the vaccination campaign, for a “change of pace”, which however must be done “together with the Government”. The governors are asking for clarification after the prime minister’s remorse, who in Parliament on Wednesday had spoken of differences between the regions in the administration of doses “difficult to accept”, with some that “neglect their elders” in favor of groups with bargaining power. The meeting at Palazzo Chigi could be scheduled on Monday.
And the Plan continues, with the sending to the territories of the first task forces of the Covid Commissioner, Francesco Figliuolo, and the arrival of another 4.5 million doses by the end of March: this would be the largest weekly increase in vials so far. In the aftermath of the new record of administrations – 230 thousand in one day – which seals the growth in the trend of administrations, the square is found on the definitive version of the document of the “organizational and structural guidelines of the extraordinary territorial vaccination points” after the summit between State and Regions.
In the document, which was outlined following the comparison of the Regions with the Government technicians and the Minister for Autonomies, Maria Stella Gelmini, the reference to the minutes necessary for the administration has disappeared (in the previous draft it was 10 minutes, excluding the “observation” phase). The medium, small and mobile vaccination points have also been deleted from the lines, only those defined as “medium / large” remain, which will be able to vaccinate 800 people a day: the entry on opening hours has been eliminated (they were set at 12 hours for the mid and large points) and only the expression “800 vaccinations / day” is mentioned.
In the new version of the document, moreover, “the organizational needs of the smaller vaccination points (for example doctors’ offices and pharmacies) are expressly reserved, which, in compliance with current legislation, constitute the backbone of that widespread vaccination system and widespread that is necessary to ensure the rapid overcoming of the pandemic situation “.
But that’s not enough. On the political level, the risk of yet another tear after the premier’s words in Parliament must be avoided. «The vaccination plan was made by the national government, it was not done by the regions. The Government could very well have asked us to suspend the priority categories, if it had wished, ”attacks Giovanni Toti. To mediate with the front of the center-right governors is the president of the Conference of the Bonaccini Regions: the first step is a letter addressed to Draghi asking for “an urgent discussion with the Government on the progress of the vaccination campaign” because “a change of step must be taken, but the Government and the Regions must do it together ”.
And the line of constructive dialogue does not stop on both sides: the meeting at Palazzo Chigi is scheduled for next Monday.
Before that date, General Figliuolo’s task forces will have already taken action to provide support. It starts from Molise and Basilicata, where a doctor and two nurses will be sent in these hours, working in particular for vaccinations in the most isolated countries and places. The Covid Commissioner will be in Calabria and then in Sicily, where he will meet technicians and authorities. In Avellino, however, in less than 12 hours the army transformed a Defense drive through into a mobile vaccination center.
The data on inoculations – with the aim of a “transparency” operation useful for citizens – will be online in the next few hours and will be available on the website of the Prime Minister by Region and category. And during this year, the company Thermo Fisher announces, the production of Pfizer Biotech doses will also cross Italy, providing “sterile filling services and preparation of the finished product in its Monza plant”.
In the coming days, with the advancement of the administration and in view of the conclusion of vaccinations for the over 80 and frail, the percentages of distribution of vaccines in the Regions should also be revised, which will soon be calculated on the basis of the resident population. But the events on the cases of cunning and privileged categories now end up in the Prosecutor’s Office: that of Aosta has opened a file on the application of the anti-Covid vaccination plan in the region. The prosecutors have delegated the Nas of the carabinieri with respect to two questions: verify the application of the Plan drawn up at ministerial level and find out if there have been any reports of people immunized but not entitled according to the same plan of the ministry.
