Vaccines, in July only one fifth are first doses. Reversal in the last few days

by admin

It’s Monday June 21, 2021: 176 days have passed since the start of the vaccination campaign against Covid. The date must be noted because it introduces a new phase of immunization: for the first time the number of first doses is exceeded by the boosters. A minimal difference (594) destined to widen more and more in the following days. A sign that, having reached 46.8 million doses, what experts call the “plateau” of people willing to undergo anti-coronavirus prophylaxis has been reached. It remains to reach out and convince the reluctant, the undecided and the skeptical who evade the injection.

In July the share of the first doses stops at 21.9%

The trend is evident if you look at the cumulative data for the current month: from al July 21 the first (and only) doses represent just over a fifth of the total administrations (the 21,9%). Although in the last few days there has been a reversal, perhaps an effect of the hypotheses on the mandatory green pass: in the first three days of the week the new vaccinated are back above quota 100mila per day (had not happened since July 9).

Comparison with June: -47.5%

As mentioned, the June 21st the overtaking of the recalls on the first doses occurs. But the result comes after a progressive decline in the number of people at the onset of vaccination against Covid. In any case, in the period from 1 to 21 June the first doses (added to the single doses) represent a preponderant share of the administrations: 8,056,660 out of a total of 11,612,303 doses, equal to 69.4%. A figure destined to collapse in the following month: if we take the corresponding period of July (1-21 July) the weight of the first doses drops to 21.9% (2,492,718 out of a total administered of 11,388,276). The difference is 47.5%.
