Vaccines, in the 12-19 age group one in three still without coverage

by admin

They drove the vaccination campaign at the end of the summer, when their adherence to anti-Covid coverage served to facilitate safe return to class. But for a few days the pace of vaccination in the 12-19 age group (the last in order of time for which reservations have opened) has started to slow down: as of 23 September the seven-day moving average is 48.900 administrations, in sharp decline compared to the first weeks of September.

Without coverage 1.514 million young people

At the beginning of the month (2 September) we traveled at high altitude 68mil daily doses. With the school year started a few days ago the coverage of this age group is now at 67,3% (54% fully vaccinated, 13.3% awaiting the recall). And while for the director of Prevention of the ministry of health Gianni Rezza it is still “early to see an effect of the reopening of schools”, a third of those between 1 and 19 years old have not received any dose. It is altogether about 1,514 million of girls and boys.

Faster class but narrowing the gap

The youngest age group remains the one with the highest average of administrations – a record that lasts from 22 August – but the gap with the other classes has narrowed: 7,400 more doses on average between 12-19 than 20-year-olds . A band that “grows rapidly” as the president of the ISS Silvio Brusaferro pointed out, underlining that 82% have received at least one dose. Percentage higher than that of thirty-year-olds (76.5%) and forty-year-olds (78.2%).

The differences: Sardinia first, Bolzano last

Then there is, as always, the great difference between Regions. In the 12-19 range it is the Sardinia to have guaranteed the highest coverage so far: only a quarter (24.4%) is at “zero doses”. On the opposite side of the ranking is the province of Bolzano, where half of vaccinable young people have never received the vaccine (Bolzano is also at the bottom of the general classification, beaten only by Sicily).
