Region, precautionary measure after Piedmont pending checks

(ANSA) – ANCONA, MARCH 14 – In the Marche region, “as a matter of precaution, the use of the AstraZeneca ABV5811 lot was set aside, following the events that occurred in Piedmont today, and replaced with other additional lots of vaccine to arrangement”. This was communicated by the Region regarding the batch of the vaccine that had been inoculated to the Biella teacher who died during the night. “The decision – he explains in a note – is taken as a precautionary measure pending the verification of the case and any further decisions by the competent authorities”.

In this regard, the Region recalls, “Aifa has already declared that there is no proven causality between death and drug administration and that pharmacovigilance activities continue both at national and European level”. Aifa also “strongly reassures citizens about the safety of the AstraZeneca vaccine“. The Marche Region “is careful to guarantee maximum safety in the vaccination campaign in any case and believes in the need and effectiveness of prophylaxis in order to overcome the pandemic”.
