UDINE. The goal is always to try to raise the bar further by bringing Friuli Venezia Giulia at the end of the month – at the same time as the target set by the Government of 500 thousand vaccinations per day – to the quota of 10 thousand daily administrations.
Therefore, Riccardo Riccardi does not give up despite the fact that even for the month of April the doses of vaccine arriving are certainly not yet such as to be open to everyone (we are probably talking about 160 thousand units) and the continuous doubts, and adjustments, on AstraZeneca risk slowing down the process of joining the vaccination campaign.
“Currently in Friuli Venezia Giulia we are between 6 thousand and 7 thousand administrations per day – said the councilor for Health – and with the organizational model we have created there would be no problems in increasing the number up to 10 thousand, that is to say all goal set by the Government, provided that the vaccines are delivered to us on schedule and in sufficient numbers. In this region we are implementing a prudent management of the vaccination campaign, balancing the relationship between the number of doses available and those to be administered by drawing up a precise schedule, such as for this week, which takes into account the delivery of Pfizer vaccine that should arrive in the next days. In this case it is about 30 thousand doses ».

To be precise, and according to the delivery schedule communicated by the commissioner to the Region, we are talking about 35,000 100 doses which represent Pfizer’s first tranche in April. In general, moreover, during the month the US company will deliver 36 thousand 270 doses on Tuesday 13 and 33 thousand 930 both on 20 and 27 of the month. On the other hand, the contribution expected by AstraZeneca is lower, which has in the pipeline – net of the delays announced yesterday and which should however be recovered – the delivery of 6,000 400 doses on Saturday, 6,000 on 17 April and 9,000 900 on the 24th. if Moderna has not yet communicated the date of arrival of 9,000 600 vaccines, it remains to be understood when, and in what proportions, those by Johnson & Johnson will be available even if it is likely that in the second half of April, and only for this month, they will be delivered no more than 8 thousand doses equal to the usual 2% of the 400 thousand expected from Italy.
These vials will be used to try to press further on the accelerator in view of May and, in the short term, of the next opening of the vaccination agendas starting from the age group of those between 65 and 69 years old. Subsequently, according to the national plan updated by the Draghi Government on 11 March, it will be up to people with comorbidities under the age of 60, without that connotation of gravity reported for extremely vulnerable people: vulgarly, that is, those exempt from paying the ticket for less impacting diseases than those of the vulnerable who, as is known, are already vaccinating.
At the same time, moreover, vaccinations in companies should also open – again in May – concretizing the agreement between the Region and Confindustria, in recent weeks, with the possibility also of expanding to a continuous contribution of private individuals who, according to calculations by the Health Department, would be able to guarantee a basket of at least 2,000 more vaccinations per day – at a cost compatible with that of general practitioners – to be added to those managed by the public.
Finally, between June and July, it should touch the rest of the population of Friuli Venezia Giulia who is less than 60 years old although at that point – always deliveries and accessions permitting – the groups most at risk will already be covered by the vaccine. And the region should see, clearly closer to itself, the light at the end of a tunnel entered almost 15 months ago with the first official infection – it was February 29 last year – found within the borders of Friuli Venezia Giulia .
