An avalanche broke off shortly after 1pm in the Piccolo San Bernardo area, above La Thuile, in the Aosta Valley, overwhelming a group of skiers who were descending along a gully. Two were buried by the snow and subsequently extracted alive by the Aosta Valley Mountain Rescue: This was confirmed by Killy Martinet, president of the Piccolo San Bernardo cable cars.

It is the second accident of this kind in Valle d’Aosta in a few days: on November 29, between Cervinia and Valtourneche, a ski attendant, leonardo Pession, 58, was overwhelmed by an avalanche that hit the slope at over 3,000 meters. altitude, near the Grand Sommettaz ski lift, above Cime Bianche. Pession was extracted from the snow and revived, then transported by helicopter to Aosta where, however, he died the next day.
