Vandals against trains in the Canavese, Thursday summit in the town hall in Rivarolo

Meeting with law enforcement and commuters

After last week’s vandalism and two damaged Trenitalia Pop trains, a meeting will be held on Thursday in the town hall in Rivarolo to address the issue. Representatives of the Municipality, Trenitalia, Gtt, law enforcement agencies and the Commuter Committee will be present.

“Thanks to the collaboration with the mayor of Rivarolo, Alberto Rostagno, we quickly organized the meeting, because we cannot waste any more time given the repetition of such unpleasant episodes” said the regional councilor of the League, Mauro Fava, president of the transport commission. The objective is to strengthen surveillance at the Rivarolo station where vandals have already struck three times since the beginning of the year. “We must find a solution – he added – to secure the area, because it is unthinkable to continue wasting resources to repair the damage caused by some imbecile who has nothing better to do than to soil public utility goods”.

For three times in less than five months, the Pop trains, the most modern to travel on the SFM1, were vandalized and taken to the workshop for the necessary cleaning operations. “Fortunately, the damage was limited to the outside – continues the councilor – but it is however unacceptable. And beyond the “businesses” of the writers, I think that surveillance in the station should be strengthened for the safety of all users ”.
