Villorba elections, the challenge is on renewal and services. “The time of pharaonic dreams is over”

VILLORBA. The time of great public works is over. For the candidates for mayor of Villorba it is better to invest in services, tax relief, aid to families, perhaps reorganize and bring to life what already exists. The electoral forum organized by the tribune with the mayoral candidates (the only absent Francesco Soligo, Lega, Villorba Serena and Fdi candidate) testifies to the change of pace that took place in the electoral campaigns and in the programs of every politician. The era of great promises, of futuristic and in some cases risky visions, is over. Better to fly low, and offer the voter a better but possible Villorba. The only concession to this logic is taken by Silvia Barbisan, a candidate of Villorba in action, who bets on the Pontebbana a Carità tunnel, a project pursued even when she was in june with Marco Serena, and which then, however, had fallen into thin air also for the scarce collaboration of Anas.

Emanuela Parks, a candidate of Villorba nel Cuore and Villorba against the wind, she doesn’t want to hear about the tunnel, “too impactful”, but aims at “giving a square to each fraction”, arranging what exists and realizing it where it is missing. Another fundamental work, “redo the athletics track, the only major excluded from the investments made in sport,” he adds.

Also Massimo Vernier (Movimento 5 stelle 2050) has different ideas about the tunnel from Barbisan – “it is a project already rejected by the citizens in a public meeting” – but in terms of traffic it would concentrate on the roundabouts of via Piave, “it is not clear why they have been postponed to favor of the intervention of Catena, which however does not convince me ». And then immediate backtracking on the new viability of Charity, a project that sees unanimity among the candidates present at the forum.

Per Silvia Barbisan, in addition to the tunnel – which “would make it possible to reorganize the piazza di Carità and put the buildings that house municipal offices in order and connect them” – the restoration of the old Venturali schools is a priority, “would become a home for the perfect associations, giving vent to all those who do not have adequate space ».

Alessandra Callegari (Democratic Party and Cambiamo Villorba) e Camilla Girasole (Villorba Lab) instead have a similar vision. “We do not need new public works, rather we enhance what is there and complete some of them, such as the cycle path in via Centa,” says Girasole. “Villorba does not need new works”, are the words of Callegari, “but to make what he has more functional, I am thinking of cycle paths, protected paths, reorganization of public properties, the recovery of the Venturali schools and the social center” .

The central theme in the electoral campaign, however, was the demographic decline. In Villorba, if the trend were confirmed, there would be more schools than necessary. “I could say that to reverse there is a need for social, to integrate the ISEE and the single allowance, but upstream of everything there are employment policies. Nobody will come to Villorba if they can’t get a job: the industrial area needs to be redeveloped to make it attractive, ”says Barbisan.

For Alessandra Callegari «Villorba is no longer attractive. It is necessary to act by reorganizing the spaces, maintaining the territory, parks, cycle paths, organizing distinctive and itinerant events that make Villorba a more lively environment. Pay more attention to welfare for new parents and children. We thought of a “social street”, a bulletin board where all citizens who have time to devote to others can make it available, for example for the care of children and the elderly ».

For Emanuela Parchi the relationship between administration and citizens must change; there are big problems with the offices and services offered. And then welfare, alongside the ISEE other assessment tools for aid, and giving more to young people ». “What makes the difference is the services for families,” says Girasole. “Kindergarten contributions are only given to families where both parents work. It’s a vicious circle ». For Vernier, funds will have to be sought “also from Europe”.

Francesco Soligo

Francesco Soligo, current social councilor, is the only candidate who did not participate in the forum organized by the Tribuna. Work reasons did not allow the Lega candidate, Villorba Serena and Fratelli d’Italia to be present.
