Path 19 km long, track finished, cleaning in progress. It combines Piverone, Azeglio, Viverone. Slowland in the front row

PIVERONE. It is called the Eighth path of the good path, and on the path it is indicated with the initials BC8, in the manner of Slowland, among the subjects who most believed in the goodness of the idea together with the interested Municipalities (Piverone, Azeglio, Viverone ) and various local associations, starting with the Pro loco.

It is called BC8, with the verb in the present, therefore, because it already exists. Which will make the many who were waiting for him happy. This is the circular hiking trail, also a cycle path, which goes around the lake of Viverone for a distance of 19 kilometers. Last Sunday the preparation of the route with poles and signs began. Now the vegetation is being cleaned to make it more usable.

It starts from Piverone, then on to Maresco di Piverone, the birdwatching tower in the municipal area of Azeglio, a stop at the Unesco stilt houses also in Azeglio, Masseria, Viverone. It is an itinerary that winds through a naturalistic area of absolute value that alternates the forest with points where the landscape opens onto the beauty of the lake. “A project born over two years ago and interrupted several times due to the pandemic has finally taken shape – explains the mayor of Piverone, Alessandro Fasolo – It is a project that was born from the reports of many operators of tourist reception activities relating to the difficulty of dealing with structured routes in our territory, above all a route that included in its entirety the tour of the lake of Viverone ».

Hotels, bars and restaurants to which customers and tourists often asked how to go around the lake following a marked path, only to give up. “The large project led by Slowland – continues Fasolo – with the participation of several municipal administrations and Pro loco saw the installation of about 40 poles and related signs”. This «inserts the lake and the neighboring municipalities into a path signaling circuit that covers a large part of the Canavese that is touristically relevant. Thanks to the work of volunteers and thanks to the constructive cooperation between administrations and Pro loco our territory is certainly more prepared to welcome those who will have the pleasure of enjoying our countless scenic, historical and naturalistic beauties that today are more easily accessible. A testimony of how the ability to create synergy and union is the right way. And with this I would like to thank the Pro loco di Piverone with its president Davide Balbo, who had already thought of a similar project ».

“But can you go around the lake?” This is one of the most recurring questions of tourists when they come to visit our lake of Viverone – Slowland writes on its social page – now we can answer yes. After years of preparation, finally on Sunday 18 July with the help of friends from Piverone, Azeglio and other precious helpers, we began setting up the signs ».

If you want to start from Viverone, the BC8 route begins at the infopoint, touches the Lungolago, continua through the hamlets of Masseria-Comuna and Veneria, after which it continues towards the reconstruction of the stilts up to the birdwatching tower of Azeglio, it enters the countryside of Azeglio to cross the provincial road 228. Afterwards, after crossing the road, it goes up towards the company agricultural La Schiavenza, in Piverone, continue in the direction of Gesiun, continue along the streets of the center of Viverone and the route ends by returning to the starting point.
