At the PalaSarselli the drums returned to roll and pushed by its warm audience the Prochimica Virtus broke the ice. On the second day of the women’s B1 championship, coach Stefano Colombo’s girls overcame Libellula Area Bra by 3-0 (partial at 14, 21 and 17).
The Prochimica begins the challenge with Mariottini in paleggio with Mo diagonal, El Hajjam and Gallina in the band, Biondi and Zecchini in the power stations, with free Colombo. On the other hand, the Cuneo inhabitants respond with Braida in the control room and Nonnati opposite; the crushers are Venturini and Rolando; the Rivetti and Batte power plants, with Cammardella free. The first point for the hosts is made by Gallina. The nineteen year old from Borgosesia, already on the first day, had shown that she had entered the Virtus schemes. Driven by a good audience, back to being heard, Mariottini continues to sort well for her teammates, even if it is above all Mo and Zecchini who widen the gap, which reaches 20-9, when they ask for the second stop from the bench in Bra. The initial fraction is closed by two valuable actions by Biondi: it ends 25-14 after 21 minutes of play.
Prochimica also starts well in the second set with El Hajjam as protagonist (5-2). Bra struggles in reception and Mo punishes the conflict zone between Venturino and Rolando, forcing an immediate time out on 9-2. The guests shake and mend the tear: 12-9 and then 15-12. The small, but fundamental advantage, is retained, albeit with some pain, until 25-21, forfeited after 23 minutes.
The virtussines do not let go even in the third fraction (4-1, 12-4, 18-10) in which the advantage soon becomes irrecoverable for the opponents. At least it seems like this until 20-12 when a 4-0 run for Libellule gives a bit of chills. But it is only a moment because Zecchini gives his teammates eight match points. And on yet another guest error, the game ends 25-17, after less than an hour and a quarter.
