Four monitoring stations, the Committee asks for a meeting

(ANSA) – VULCANO, JANUARY 23 – In Vulcano, in the Aeolian Islands, a new ordinance from the mayor Marco Giorgianni is arriving for the gas emergency. It will start tomorrow, considering that the last one expires today. A mini extension is expected, pending the installation of the commission that will appoint Commissioner Musumeci, even if the times could be long, due to the commitment of the governor in the election of the President of the Republic. Currently, the island is working on the protocol relating to controls related to the emission of gas from the volcano, at a later time the actions to be taken will be evaluated.

In the meantime, the four workstations of the Arpa and Ispra laboratories are being identified for the immediate transmission of data online. They will be positioned near the Altavilla cottages, facing the crater in order to record the “activity” of the volcano, in the thermal mud area, and in two other areas of the island.

Meanwhile, in Vulcano there was a new meeting of the spontaneous committee for the defense of the Aeolian island which met in a public assembly at the port. The representatives asked for a meeting with the mayor Marco Giorgianni because they say “the island will have to come back to life and the first step will have to be to reopen it to tourists as well”.
