[Voice of Hope, January 12, 2022](Comprehensive report by our reporter Zhang Lili)At the beginning of the new year in 2022, the CCP began to implement the so-called “Family Education Promotion Law”, which it said was to “further implement family responsibilities.” However, this method has attracted criticism from experts and ridicule from netizens. Some netizens believe that the CCP even has to control how the people bring their children, and it can only make the people more “flattened”.

According to the “China Family Education Promotion Law”, which was implemented from January 1, the CCP requires parents to “bring their children in accordance with the law” and take the responsibility of “nurturing themselves” in family education. The law also requires schools to reduce the academic burden of young people and, when necessary, to educate and criticize unqualified parents.

This is the first time that the CCP has made special legislation on family education. However, the details of the law are vague and not legally binding. For “unqualified” parents, except for “discipline” and “counseling”, there are hardly any punitive measures involved.

Yang Jianli, founder of the American “Citizen Power” organization, said that the CCP’s promulgation of the new “Family Education Promotion Law” is part of the CCP leader Xi Jinping’s desire to promote a new social and cultural movement in China. But he believes that family education is a very difficult issue for all countries in the world. “What role and what role parents play in the behavior and education of teenagers is a very complex issue. There is no perfect solution in any country.”

Yang Jianli said that this law is actually non-binding, so it can only be a mere formality. He said: “This is a law that cannot be enforced at all, so he has to retreat from the kind of goal at the beginning, and in the end it becomes a discipline. This discipline, let alone how to enforce it. Who will discipline? A policeman Do they know how to educate their children better than their parents? Surely not. So this makes the law very unlike a law and cannot be enforced.”

Xiong Bingqi, president of the “21st Century Education Research Institute” who has been studying Chinese education issues for a long time, believes that to solve the problem of fulfilling family responsibilities, the government and society need to make this law more rigid and promoting from multiple perspectives. He said: “The law stipulates that parents must raise and accompany them in person. But to do this, government departments need to create an environment where parents, parents, and guardians can raise and accompany them in person.”

Many netizens, under China’s Sina Weibo account, mocked the law as empty words without any real meaning.

Netizen “Yuwei Xuan Ganguo” said: “The current policy is one on the left and one on the right. It can really go deep into the grassroots and research and introduce it. There are very few policies suitable for the common people. It is always the butt that decides the head.” The message said: “It is safer not to get married and not to have children. Being a social animal is tiring enough. You don’t have the energy to get married, have children, raise children and (handle) the relationship between mother-in-law and daughter-in-law and husband and wife.” Netizen “Xiaoyouzhong” said: “As long as you don’t get married, the marriage law and education law will not govern! Unmarried and infertile persuade to quit.”

In addition, many netizens satirized that even the “Labor Law” in today’s society cannot be guaranteed to be implemented, let alone be too demanding of parents. The netizen “cut the green pepper silk” said: “Can companies and units achieve flexible check-in for employees with babies? Going to work is the same as when the baby goes to school. You can’t check in after you send the baby. If you want to check in and send the baby, you have to drag it. The baby will go out and run around when the sky is bright. Can the country implement some policies into specific details?”

Yang Jianli believes that, in the final analysis, the new law is intended to reflect Xi Jinping’s promotion of what he calls a “new moral movement.” He said, “I think he (Xi Jinping) definitely wants to use legal methods to formalize many of the policies he has proposed. Another one is that the legislative system is also under Xi Jinping’s policies and wants to be eager to show it. Because Xi Jinping is obviously To transform this society, he has great ambitions. He must show some performance in formulating laws and educating children.”
