The recent heavy rainfall in Guangdong has led to devastating floods in various areas of the province. In response to the crisis, officers and soldiers from the People’s Liberation Army and the Armed Police Force have swiftly mobilized multiple rescue teams to provide assistance.

One such team, the brigade of the 74th Army Group, sprang into action on April 20 when heavy rains caused floods and geological disasters in Shaoguan City. Over 300 officers and soldiers, along with necessary vehicles and equipment, were dispatched to the affected areas. Despite challenges like collapsed roads and damaged bridges, the brigade’s advance team trekked for 8 hours to reach two administrative villages in Jiangwan Town for search and rescue operations.

Similarly, a unit of the Rocket Force also responded to the crisis in Shaoguan City by organizing a team of 100 officers and soldiers to assist in transferring trapped individuals and repairing damaged roads. The Armed Police Guangdong Corps Shaoguan Detachment joined the rescue efforts by deploying 25 officers and soldiers carrying emergency supplies to the landslide site in Jiangwan Town. By the end of the day, they successfully rescued two trapped individuals and facilitated the landing of a rescue helicopter.

Meanwhile, the Armed Police Guangdong Corps Zhaoqing Detachment has been actively involved in rescue operations in Zhaoqing City’s Huaiji County and Guangning County. The detachment has used assault boats and life jackets to transfer trapped villagers and materials, and has worked tirelessly to strengthen dikes and assist in the transfer of patients and individuals in need of help.

As the rescue efforts continue in the wake of the floods, the dedication and quick response of these military and police units have been vital in providing relief to the affected residents of Guangdong.
