Waste and mobility. The election of the next mayor of the capital passes from these two puzzle problems. But the capital, although difficult to manage with its record numbers (it is the first municipality in Italy for green areas; with 2.7 million residents, it hosts as many inhabitants as those of Florence, Naples and Milan), has enormous potential for its almost unique characteristics. One figure above all: with 31 million visitors, it was the most visited city in Italy in 2019. The tourist vocation, the multi-year specialization in the innovation and ICT sectors can act as a driving force for attracting investments and emerging from the post Covid crisis. In this vein, even the recent candidacy for Expo 2030, signed by Prime Minister Draghi and shared by all the mayoral candidates, can give an economic shock to the city.
