Will La Nina be a foregone conclusion this winter will be crying?Extreme weather is becoming the new normal-weather, winter, weather forecast-fast technology (media under the drive house)-technology changes the future

Since the beginning of this year, we have witnessed countless extreme weather. A heavy rainstorm in Zhengzhou in July is still fresh in our memory, but this year’s extreme weather may not stop there.

Recently, an official from the National Climate Center announced an important news:Since July this year, the sea temperature in the equatorial Central and Eastern Pacific has continued to drop, and it is expected to enter the La Niña state in October, and a weak to moderate La Niña event will be formed in the winter.

La Nina this winter is a foregone conclusion

However, La Niña is not absolutely the same as cold winter.

According to statistics from the Climate Center, analyzing 15 La Niña events in history since 1951, it was found that there were 10 La Niña years with low winter temperatures in China, and 5 La Niña years with high winter temperatures in China.

In other words, not every La Niña year has a low winter average temperature; After the La Niña incident, the probability of a colder winter in China is indeed greater, about twice the probability of a warmer. But it is not certain that this winter will be colder.

It is reported that La Niña refers to the phenomenon that the sea surface temperature in the eastern and central equatorial Pacific (hereinafter referred to as sea temperature) continues to be abnormally cold. When this sea area is tens of thousands of kilometers long from east to west and thousands of kilometers wide from north to south, the temperature is lower than the annual average value of 0.5°C. At that time, it enters the La Niña state, and a La Niña event lasts for more than 6 months.

In the context of La Nina, extreme weather that is colder, warmer, waterlogged, and drier continues to take place this year, and not only has our country experienced a series of extreme events, catastrophic floods in Europe, rare high-temperature heat waves in North America, and the highest in Greenland The first rain at the spot, the rare high-temperature heat wave in Europe, the first “snowfall” in Cameroon, and so on.

These are all declaring the fact that extreme weather events are becoming the new normal.

The World Meteorological Organization recently issued a document stating that in 2020, greenhouse gases in the atmosphere once again set a new record, with an annual growth rate higher than the average level of 2011-2020, and this trend will continue in 2021.The global temperature will continue to rise, and the possibility of extreme weather events that may be triggered by warming will continue to increase.

So, do you think this winter will be a cold winter?
