Windeck: Tree tears down overhead line – Rhineland – News

The fire brigade and rescue service were deployed in a major operation on Friday. On the Cologne-Siegen railway line, a tree fell into an overhead line and tore it off. An RE9 heading towards Siegen got stranded on the route.

400 passengers evacuated from train

The route was then immediately closed so that emergency services could get the approximately 400 passengers off the train on the open route. They had to continue their journey in Bissen. The route is expected to remain closed until 6 a.m. Saturday. A replacement rail service was set up.
