Xiaopeng P7 auto-assisted driving hits a rollover vehicle!Xiaopeng’s response: The owner’s pot did not observe the road conditions

A few days ago, it was reported that in Yueyang, Hunan, Mr. Deng, the owner of Xiaopeng Motors, said that after driving for more than ten kilometers on the national highway, he suddenly encountered a car that rolled over on the road.

The automatic assisted driving does not have any alarm and deceleration, and the car drives straight ahead at high speed.Mr. Deng said that after discovering the abnormality, he immediately slammed on the brakes, but the car did not respond. In the end, the vehicle collided with the rollover vehicle at high speed, causing a secondary accident, resulting in serious damage to both vehicles.

In this regard, Xiaopeng Motors responded that the accident was caused by not maintaining observation of the environment in front of the vehicle and taking over the vehicle in time.

The following is the full text of Xiaopeng Motors’ response:

Regarding the accident reported by the owner, Mr. Deng, when he used ACC+LCC (Adaptive Cruise Control & Lane Centering Function), he collided with the accidental vehicle parked in front of him, and our company attaches great importance to it. We deeply regret the accident of the vehicle and express our concern for Mr. Deng’s physical condition.

After investigation, on March 13, the owner of the car, Mr. Deng, drove a Xiaopeng P7 on a local expressway section and collided with a rollover vehicle parked in front of him. No one was injured in the accident. After the accident, through the background collision monitoring, our customer service staff called the customer to inquire about the situation at the first time, and gave assistance and guidance.

The preliminary judgment is that the owner is in the process of making ACC+LCC (adaptive cruise control & lane centering function),Failure to keep an eye on the environment in front of the vehicle and take over the vehicle in time. After investigation and judgment by the local traffic police department, the conclusion is also in line with the above situation.

Here, we need to remind the majority of drivers again that in the process of using the assisted driving system, it is necessary to keep observing the surrounding environment of the vehicle, and follow the instructions for using the relevant functions in the user manual to ensure driving safety.

Customer experience is the top priority of Xpeng Motors. After the accident, we provided Mr. Deng with a free scooter as soon as possible. We will also actively communicate with Mr. Deng about follow-up maintenance to help car owners restore their cars as soon as possible.
