After the first week of August, the party media basically had no news from the top CCP. Xinhua News Agency still tried to maintain Xi Jinping’s coverage, but in the past few days it has also entered a mode of congratulating messages, publishing articles, and reviewing speeches. The Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China probably all gathered in Beidaihe.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Communist Party of China announced on July 30 that it would suspend the regular press conference from August 2 to August 13, which seems to confirm the timing of the Beidaihe meeting and also reflects that Xi Jinping attaches great importance to the Beidaihe meeting. The CCP’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson’s more important questions and answers should be finalized after Xi Jinping. During the Beidaihe meeting, in order to reduce the energy involved, the CCP’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs simply asked the CCP’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs to suspend the press conference.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Communist Party of China stated that it accepts fax, e-mail or WeChat questions from reporters as usual, but it has only released the responses to three questions, “Answer to reporters’ questions on the spread of false information on the traceability of the new crown virus by US congressmen”, and “the Macau Court of Final Appeal on the United States and Europe’s false comments on the United States and Europe.” “Answer to reporters’ questions on the appeals of the three participating groups”, “Answer to reporters’ questions about State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi’s attendance at the Foreign Ministers’ Meeting of the East Asia Cooperation Video Series”. For these three questions, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Communist Party of China should have arranged for the Chinese Communist Party media to ask questions, which is equivalent to asking and answering themselves. Foreign reporters simply did not have the opportunity to ask questions, or the questions were not accepted at all.
It can be seen from this that Xi Jinping is not really able to ignore the Beidaihe meeting, but needs to take seriously the doubts of his predecessors or anyone else.
On July 31, Xi Jinping presided over the Politburo’s collective study of strengthening the army, and later party media articles emphasized “military loyalty” and “absolute leadership”, showing a firm hand. Of course, in addition to demonstrating military power, Xi Jinping has successively placed heavy hands on Internet companies, violently pinching the white gloves of the CCP’s dignitaries. On August 4, Xinhua News Agency published an article, “The Seven Deadly Sins” of the American Alliance System. This article of more than 24,000 words verbally criticized the United States and its allies. It should be mainly not for Westerners, but for their own people. In other words, this article is for the diplomatic failure of the current high-level CCP in the past year. Look for an excuse, that is, it is not that the CCP insists on provoke the United States and the West, but that they “will not die.”
There was another article published on the same day, “Who Exactly Are U.S. Politicians Standing With? ——The truth about the fact that the U.S. brutally interfered in China’s internal affairs on Hong Kong-related issues.” These two articles are equivalent to the public supplementary materials of the Beidaihe Conference, trying to justify the decision-making mistakes of the current CCP leaders.
After the external characterization of Xinhua News Agency, it also tried to cooperate in providing an antidote and published another article, “The Unity of Chinese Sons and Daughters Must be Strengthened-“Taking History as a Mirror, Creating the Future” Series of Comments No. 8″. The article stated that Xi Jinping’s speech on July 1 “shows the indispensable code for national rejuvenation”, including “Who can control the strength of the group, the stone of one heart can be worn!” “Unity is strength”, “Synchronous action: drawing “Maximum concentric circles”, “Maximum concentration of strength.”
This article is tantamount to publicly shouting to the opposition, stop questioning or doubting, hurry up and obey the unified command of the current high-level CCP, unanimously to the outside world, otherwise it is likely to be finished together. Under the instigation of the CCP’s top leaders, the CCP media took pains to cooperate with the Beidaihe meeting process, which actually reflected the many concerns of the current CCP leaders. Of course, there are more issues that cannot be mentioned publicly, such as floods, epidemics, economic difficulties, etc.; however, The current painstaking efforts to deliberately create an atmosphere has shown that this year’s Beidaihe Conference may be inevitable.
