The wait is over. At 12.50 today Italian weightlifter Mirko Zanni from Pordenone climbs on the platform in group A of the 67 kg category: the European vice-champion of the total ranking of Moscow 2021 – where he won gold in the snatch – is at his Olympic debut, after a constant growth that took him to the record of 147 kg in the snatch and 173 in the momentum.
Zanni, sixth in the international ranking, among the 14 in the race has the third best record together with Colombian Luis Javier Mosquera Lozano. Chinese favorite Lijun Chen, world champion in 2018 and 2019, just behind Uzbek Adkhamjon Ergashev.
Even the Japanese Mitsunori Konnai, eighth in the ranking and fifth among the weightlifters who will compete in the Olympics, can aim for a medal: the challenge promises to be open, even if, as mentioned, Chen is the favorite. –
