The King’s Glory Challenge Cup was formerly known as the “King’s Glory Winter Champions Cup”, and it is the only cup in the domestic king’s e-sports system that has completed the three major events of KPL, K-Class, and national competitions. In terms of KPL, a total of six teams have qualified for the competition. Among them, champion Wuhan eStarPro, runner-up Guangzhou TTG and third place Chongqing Wolves directly enter the knockout round, while Changsha TES.A, Foshan GK, and XYG will participate in the four-day trial from December 31 to January 3.
In the K-Class, a total of four teams have qualified for the competition. Among them, the K-Class champion Wuxi JXG directly enters the knockout round, while the Fire Leopard, HI, and Dongguan WZ will participate in the trial first.
The three teams in the National Glory of the Kings Competition are all participating in the trials. They are Shenzhen Douyu TLG, Shanghai HH, and Shenzhen Penguin MD.
Regarding the competition system, the trial system is BO1, with nine teams in a single round robin, and the top four teams in total points advance to the knockout round. From the knockout round, it is the BO7 overall BP+ peak showdown, and the losing team will be eliminated directly.
Compared with the previous Winter Championships, the number of KPL teams in this year’s Challenger Cup has decreased, and the number of K-A and national competition teams has increased. This change fits the theme of the event “challenge” and is further distinguished from the positioning of the World Championship.
As the name suggests, the “Challengers Cup” gives the excellent teams in the national competitions and the strong teams in K-A the opportunity to learn from professional teams, and it is also their first step towards the highest level of professional competitions. But for the several teams of KPL, especially the teams that need to participate in the trials, it should not be taken lightly.
