Original title: 76ers fined 50,000 for failing to accurately and timely report Embiid’s playing status
On May 8, Beijing time, the NBA officially announced that the 76ers were fined $50,000.
The NBA said in a statement that the 76ers were fined $50,000 for violating the league’s injury reporting rules for failing to accurately and promptly report Embiid’s status before the Heat’s Game 3 against the 76ers.
Previously, Embiid missed G1 and G2 of the Heat series because of a right orbital fracture and a minor concussion in the series against the Raptors. He did not travel with the team. In his absence, the Sixers lost two games.
Afterwards, 76ers coach Doc Rivers said he did not know Embiid’s status in Game 3. The 76ers listed Embiid’s status as absent in the injury report the day before the game. According to multiple reporters, Embiid still has the possibility to play, and he is in the process of recovery. Before the final game, Embiid decided to come back. He wore a mask and rushed to help the team to win a victory. The series score was 1-2.
Previously, the Suns were also fined in the first round for failing to update Booker’s playing status in a timely manner.
