Five blues with the dream of the medal. In Tokyo, all the athletes arrived well in advance to get used to the time zone, as Japan is 7 hours ahead of Italy. To follow the athletes from Pavia in particular, here are the Italian timetables to follow. The first to go down in the competition will be Mauro Nespoli who makes his debut before the Olympic ceremony, as already on Friday 23 at 6 am Italian time he goes to the platform in the ranking round to establish the scoreboard of individual direct matches.
On Saturday the first medals will be up for grabs: Olympic debut for the mixed-team archery competition in which Nespoli will be on the platform with a blue still to be defined. The round of 16 will start at 2.30 in the night, while the challenges for the medals are scheduled for 9.25.
Monday is the turn of Federico Burdisso from Pavia in the 200 butterfly (12 pm). At night, at 4, the twenty-one-year-old rookie boxer Rebecca Nicoli will enter the ring for the first round of the kg category. 60 and at 10, if he wins, he will shoot for the round of 16. The third rookie, Angelica Olmo da Zenevredo, will participate in the individual Olympic triathlon competition from 11.30pm.
On Tuesday Mauro Nespoli on the platform will shoot the arrows in the first round of the individual competition (2.30 am) and half an hour before in the swimming pool Burdisso will swim in the semifinals of the 200 butterfly.
Wednesday is the final day for Burdisso (3.30) while Nespoli will be grappling at 2.30 with the 32nd and at 9 with the round of 32. Thursday from the 12 heats of the 100 butterfly with Federico Burdisso and Nespoli on the platform from 2.30 for the round of 16. If he qualifies for the 100 butterfly semifinal, Burdisso will compete at 3.30 on Friday (while the final is scheduled for 3.30 on Saturday). Angelica Olmo at 0.30 will be engaged in the mixed relay of triathlon and Nespoli at 2.30 in the quarters and from 7.45 in the semifinal and final. Rebecca Nicoli, if she surpasses the first rounds, on Tuesday 3 August from 4 am will go into the ring in the quarter-finals, while Manfredi Rizza on Wednesday 4 August at 2.30 will face the heats of K1 200 meters. On Thursday 5 August at 2.30 am Rizza will aim for the semifinal and final, while the semifinal could be played from 7 Nicoli and on Sunday 8 August, again from 7, the final.
