Excellent third place at the under 23 rowing world championships in Racice, in the Czech Republic, by Lucrezia Baudino, 20 years old from Pavone Canavese (registered with Cus Torino). In the five days of competitions from Wednesday 7 to Sunday 11 July, the Ivorian athlete obtained the bronze medal in the Four in pairs, Senior women’s.
A very important and prestigious result. The Pavonese is radiant: «The credit for this very important result must also be shared equally with my boat mates: Vittoria Tonoli, Gaia Colasante and Sara Borghi. Together we did a great team work – explains Baudino – and it was absolutely not getting on the podium. The opponents were very strong and no one gave us anything. We got the podium with the race on Saturday 10 July, when the final was held with six boats from all over Europe. We had the luck and ability to always be in the very first positions. After 1,000 meters of the race we were even second, position maintained for another 500 meters with great sacrifices, but then we accused the weight of the fatigue that unfortunately made us lose a position in the last 500 meters of the race and so we had to settle for the third. place”. Success went to Switzerland, which preceded Germany and Italy. Excellent general rehearsal of Italy, with first place in the medal table: 11 medals (4 gold, 4 silver and 3 bronze).
«I am very satisfied with this experience – says Baudino – On Wednesday 7th we finished first in the heats, then on Friday we got the second place in the semifinal, thus winning the final».
Lucrezia Baudino, enrolled in the second year of Nursing Sciences in Turin, talks about her near future: “Now I enjoy my well-deserved holidays – Baudino begins – I need to relax and recharge my batteries in view of the resumption of the season at the same time. , which will already be in mid-August, when training with Cus Torino will resume in the waters of the Po river. Mentally I will have to be able to forget what I did in Racice and I will have to concentrate on the next appointments. The goal will be to confirm myself at these levels, a very difficult aspect, because in sport it is more and more complicated to confirm oneself and in addition the opponents will want to do everything to try to beat me ».
Lucrezia Baudino is therefore ready and determined to amaze again and to always keep the colors of the Canavese very high, as she has always done with great success up to now. –
