Abuses, Simone Biles and the other victims of Nassar ask for a billion from the FBI

The Olympic champion and a dozen of her companions accuse the government agency: “They knew and did not intervene”

World star Simone Biles and a dozen US gymnasts have demanded over $ 1 billion from the FBI for failing to stop doctor Larry Nassar, the perpetrator of the sexual harassment they suffered. “It’s time for the FBI to be held accountable,” said Maggie Nichols, 2017-19 Oklahoma National Champion gymnast.

The accusation

In 2015, the FBI was aware of the allegations leveled at Nassar by the gymnasts, but there was no intervention from federal agents. “If the FBI had simply done his job, Nassar would have been stopped before he had a chance to abuse hundreds of girls, including myself,” said former University of Michigan gymnast Samantha Roy. Nassar was arrested in the fall of 2016 during a Michigan police investigation. Michigan State University, which for many years was accused of failing to stop Nassar, agreed to pay $ 500 million to more than 300 women and girls who were attacked. Under federal law, however, the government agency has six months to respond to claims filed today. Lawsuits could follow, depending on the FBI’s response.
