Volleyball, Orro hits a historic encore, she will be the setter of Italy also in Japan The blue group still needs to be reduced but she is one of only two in the role, so …

ORISTANO. TOlexia Orro will go to the Tokyo Olympics. The news, indirect but no less official for the moment, comes from the list of squads announced yesterday by the technical commissioner of the women’s national volleyball team Davide Mazzanti, who in view of the last blue college, which will take place in Caorle from tomorrow until July 2, he selected thirteen athletes. The blue group from 3 to 9 will move to Belgrade to carry out an internship with Serbia, against which they will also play three friendly matches.

For the occasion, Mazzanti has narrowed the initial list of twenty names to thirteen, choosing Alessia Orro and Ofelia Malinov as setters, and leaving the only doubt about whether to bring three power plants to Japan, or prune the number of band attackers, at the moment five between crushers and opposite. However, the young Sardinian setter, originally from Narbolia, will be part of the group that, having returned from Belgrade on the 10th, will meet in Rome on the 14th and then leave on the 16th for the land of the Rising Sun.

Thus, at the age of twenty-two (the exact date is that of July 18, so Alessia will celebrate them with her companions while she will already be in Tokyo) she will be able to play the second Olympics after that of 2016 in Rio del Janeiro, and thus also become the first island volleyball player for number of appearances in blue. In fact, it is currently at an altitude of 113, and the primacy of Rosanna Bajardo from Sassari, who reached 119 in the 80s of the last century, is really close.
