The defeat of Savigliano, collected on Good Friday, does not depress the Alto Canavese who are preparing for the last recovery of the first phase (scheduled for Saturday 17 April in Acqui Terme), before the second phase.
The upper Canavese formation, in which a very young central player, born in 2004, Gabriele Vercellino, also made his debut in the first team, was defeated 3-1 (25-23, 23-25, 25-21, 25-20) by the Cuneo inhabitants of Savigliano . In light of the defeat it seems likely that Alto Canavese will finish third.
Against Savigliano coach Matteotti had sent Carlevaris on the field in dribble, Bolla and captain Argilagos in the band, Giacobbo and Spinello in the center, the returning Avalle on the opposite and Sansanelli free. In the first set the Alto Canavese had often bumped into the defense and the counterattack of the hosts, never managing to make the decisive break.
The race was point to point for large sections of the match and in the end it was the Cuneo inhabitants who won the first set 25-23.
Shock start of the Alto Canavese in the second fraction, ready to go is 6-2 for Savigliano, then in the middle of the set, thanks also to the change in the band with the entry of Menardo for Argilagos, the turning point has arrived: without shining more than so much, given the lack of concreteness in the subnet, the Alto Canavese managed to impact the match, closing the second set 23-25. In the third fraction the Alto Canavese got off to a better start, thanks above all to the serve, but Savigliano in the end turned out to be more concrete and the change to the dribble between the Alto Canavese players was not useful, with Bertoni for Carlevaris. Success of the set for 25-21.
Finally, in the fourth and last set again a negative start from the Alto Canavese, under 5-1, then double Bertoni change again for Carlevaris and Grosjacques for Menardo and the upper Canavese reaction arrived, up to 20-20. The Savigliano, however, in the final is more determined and concentrated and manages to win again, this time 25-20.
A setback that was not needed for the Alto Canavese, in function of the primacy in the standings, the head is already in the second recovery against Acqui Terme, then it will be necessary to prepare the second phase, starting on Wednesday 12 May.
Another postponement instead, again due to some cases of positivity to Covid-19 found in the Acqui Terme team, between the Alexandrians and the Ciriè in the other recovery scheduled last weekend.
