New season, old habits for the Pavia Tennis Club, which as always started strong and is currently at the top of the classification of group A of the Open 11 championship of the CSI with full points. And with the beauty of eleven goals scored in the first three clashes, with Caruso confirming his “vice of goals” having scored five, ahead of Lardera with three.

The team, chaired by the “iron lady” Nicoletta Cassani, has in the precious figure of Gianni Lorber its sporting director and in the consolidated one of Carmine Di Santi the now historic coach.

For the record, the first three “sacrificial victims” of the Tennis Club were, in order, Union Zeta Team, Sanmaurense and Upol Lungavilla. Tomorrow Di Santi’s team is expected to have a challenging match against their direct rivals Penarol. It will be played in Carbonara, with the kick-off at 14.45.

The problems of restarting

“Certainly it was a pain to stay still two seasons due to Covid – explains Di Santi – who plays in Amateurs does it exclusively for passion, there are no other reasons and therefore it is clear that we had to give up something very important for us. Moreover, starting over after all this time is creating physical problems for everyone, starting with groin pain and fatigue. It is not easy to resume ».

For example, Lardera, Travaini, Pisati and Giubilo have already paid for these unpleasant injuries. «In any case, I am quite happy with this start of the team – the coach comments – plus the victories have come to the detriment of listed teams. The skeleton has always remained the same. Sangiorgio, Malinverni and Vecchio are no longer with us and I hope that Alessandro and Alberto Rampulla, currently struggling with work commitments, will return to the team ».

The new faces in the team

There are two new training courses at the Tennis Club: few but good, because it is a veteran and a young man, who complete an already strong squad. The veteran is Andrea Zappa, born in 1970, who Di Santi already coached at Frigirola and who has always “courted” to convince him to move to the Tennis Club. Zappa is a central defensive player, who can also be a midfielder if necessary and has brought a good deal of experience to the house of Pavia. The young man is Guido Ravizza, born in 2001, a real wild card whose physical strength can be useful in various areas of the field.

It will undoubtedly be a precious weapon at the disposal of Mr. Di Santi. –
