Another doctor is shot dead in Colombia

The doctor Jesús María García was murdered this Friday in the Colombian department of La Guajira for a man who shot him several times when the doctor arrived to take his shift and begin his work at a hospital in the region.

The crime occurred in the town of Villanueva when García was preparing to get out of his vehicle to enter the hospital where he worked. The doctor was helped by his colleagues and transferred to the hospital in the neighboring town of San Juan del Cesar, better equipped with medical equipment, but he arrived there without vital signs, media in the region reported.

This murder follows the one that occurred on Thursday in Medellín where urologist doctor Juan Guillermo Aristizábal was shot, who was in one of the private offices at the Medellín Clinic. During the attack, a doctor’s collaborator was also injured, who was treated at the clinic facilities and is “out of danger.”

The alleged murderer of doctor García was captured and The Police took him out of the town because people wanted to lynch him.

The mayor of Villanueva, Cielomar Peñaloza, told reporters that she convened a security council to demand “the competent authorities clarify these sad events, investigate and prosecute the person responsible.”
