Yesterday, at Passo Cereda, the Fiamme Oro cross-country skier won gold in the 10 kilometers of the Italian championships, the race that, together with the 15 kilometers in the men’s classic, opened the three-day event organized by the Primiero San Martino Sports Union.
The girl who grew up in the Cortina ski club has imposed herself with great authority on the two laps of the nervous Trentino route, thus confirming that she is the national athlete of reference for distance races. The twenty-year-old Valentina Maj from Bergamo (new Under 23 Italian champion) was the second inflicted 42 seconds, 43 ”1 those trimmed to another from Bergamo, Martina Bellini (Army). Seventh place for Sara Pellegrini from Zoldo (Fiamme Oro), fourteenth for Rebecca Bergagnin from Como (Carabinieri).
«The 10 in the classic is my favorite race and I wanted to do well. So it was and I am doubly happy: for me and for the Fiamme Oro, since the tricolors are one of the few occasions in which I can represent my body of belonging », says Anna. «Yes, I won well, but it was not an easy race, also because we are at the last days of the season and the energies are what they are. Today I will be at the start of the relay, I think with Pellegrino and Noeckler, and then there will be the 30 kilometers: even if it is in skating, which is not my favorite technique, I want to do well ».
Victory of the Fiamme Oro also in the men’s field, with the Aosta Valley Federico Pellegrino who at the end of the 15 kilometers of the Cereda track put his teammate, the South Tyrolean Dietmar Nöckler, 14 ”9 behind, and the Fiemme from Tesero Paolo Ventura (Army), reached 20 ”6. For Pellegrino, who already has seven tricolor titles in the “sprint”, this is the first success over this distance, a laurel conquered by keeping his foot on the accelerator in the first two laps and then managing the last ring, when he was able to keep visually under control the most dangerous opponents.
Sappada Davide Graz (Fiamme Gialle) finished eighth, winning silver in the Under 23 category, behind Ivan Mariani (Fiamme Oro). 15th position for Martin Coradazzi (Carnic from Forni di Sopra, with solid links in Cadore), 20th place for the spar Leonardo De Biasi (Fiamme Oro).
