The basketball season has been long and tiring, but Apu Old Wild West captain Michele Antonutti has a special way to recharge the batteries. Being among the boys of the All Star Basketball Academy, the camp in progress in Lignano Sabbiadoro, regenerates itself by transmitting and receiving love for the game of basketball. The “Cigno di Colloredo” is the main testimonial of the initiative, with him also the various Vittorio Nobile, Ciccio Pellegrino, Rafael Gaspardo and Gabriele Miani.
Antonutti, how do you feel at 35, after such an intense season?
“Very tired, but also very enthusiastic. The same enthusiasm that I see in the children of the camp. In addition, I experience these emotions in Udine, my homeland: I am lucky ».
Other projects for the summer?
«With the Academy we will go to redevelop another basketball court in Pasian di Prato. Personally, however, I will give myself a short vacation, then I will immediately start training. The new season is near, we need the right preparation to avoid injuries ».
The Apu Old Wild West is already very active on the market. There are two new USA.
«Yes, also because today’s sport is very different from 10-20 years ago. Once upon a time, players stayed up to 8-10 years in one place. Everything has changed, but I am pleased that the APU has an important backbone with the confirmations of Nobile, Pellegrino, Giuri and Mussini, as well as myself. The one who had just finished the championship was a special group ».
Also remains coach Boniciolli, who has signed a two-year deal.
«I’m happy for him, he did a really good job. He created a lot and gave enthusiasm in a season made difficult by Covid and the absence of the public in the stands ».
The company points without hesitation on the promotion.
«Yes, important players have been matched up in Udine. My role will be to make it clear that ten great players does not automatically mean winning. There is much more behind it, you have to be able to take a step back from the ego and a step forward towards the team ».
The summer also reserved for us the Azzurri’s feat in Belgrade.
«A beautiful moment, we saw the game on the big screen with the boys. Italy going to Tokyo is the lifeblood for Italian basketball. The goal is double, because it was hit by a group of great players, but not stars. They made everyone fall in love, like the Azzurri in football, so we will all cheer on tonight ». –
