Apu, still fifty days to get Antonutti back on the field

The captain has begun the recovery phase after the positivity to Covid. Doctor Grassi: “He is responding well to treatments and we can see improvements”

UDINE. We will have to wait until the end of January to see Michele Antonutti on the field. The forecast is made by the head of the medical area of the APU, Alessandro Grassi, after a week of summit and examinations carried out by the Juventus captain, recovered from a rather severe form of Covid.

The “Cigno di Colloredo”, who followed the challenge between Apu Old Wild West and Stings Mantova from the sidelines, has already started exercising in the gym for a few days, but the path to return to the best athletic condition requires caution.

“We have concluded a whole series of tests to evaluate its efficiency – explains Dr. Grassi – and the result is that there is a significant metabolic, muscular and athletic decrease in lean mass”.

Antonutti lost six kilograms due to the virus, but now things are already better and he has already recovered a couple.

An ad hoc nutritional program was prepared for the captain by Dr. Rachele Turco, nutritionist from Apu Medical, while together with the athletic trainer Luigi Sepulcri an aerobic recovery, muscle strengthening and motor coordination program was initiated.

«With the medical staff – continues Grassi – we are working a lot with Antonutti, at the level of therapeutic and pharmacological support and strong dietary integration. The player responds well and the improvements can be seen. If I have to make a prediction, I’d be happy to see him on the pitch at the end of January, if everything goes well ».

The Juventus number 9, although improving, has not yet completely disposed of the after-effects of a heavy form of the virus: at the moment he has not yet recovered taste and smell.

Fortunately, the lungs were not damaged, as had already been shown by a CT scan performed during the illness. The important thing, after the fear, is to have put the hardest period behind us. In this regard, the APU thanks Dr. Carlo Tascini, director of the infectious diseases department of the Santa Maria della Misericordia hospital in Udine for his collaboration.

From a sporting point of view, the Old Wild West will have to do without its captain for another fifty days.

The last match played by Antonutti dates back to last November 6, at home against Pistoia. Three games have already been skipped (against Orlandina, Cantù and Mantua), if the prediction of the Apu medical staff turns out to be correct, the “Swan of Colloredo” will also miss against Milan, Trapani, Turin, Orzinuovi, Assigeco, Casale and Biella.

The total would be ten missed matches, almost an entire round of the championship. Hypothesis of return: January 30, 2022 at the Carnera sports hall against the black beast Treviglio.
