After the sporting achievements that have contributed to making Italians rejoice during an incredible summer studded with victories and before getting back on track along the path that will lead to the upcoming appointment in Paris 2024, it is time for official thanks for those who have committed themselves. body and soul and was rewarded by the results at Yumenoshima Park Archery Field in Tokyo.

Azzurri at the Coni Hall of Honor

The Italian Archery Federation organized a ceremony dedicated to its athletes and to the technical staff who accompanied them – some in attendance and some not – to the Olympic and Paralympic Games, where the blue arrows have accomplished yet another feat in history of the oldest of modern sports. The event will take place in Rome, in the heart of Italian sport, at the Coni Hall of Honor, on Friday 22 October at 5:30 pm. For the occasion, the Federal President Mario Scarzella with all the management, together with the highest authorities of Italian sport and military sports groups, will thank the archers in Japan, the technicians, the staff members and, in particular, the five athletes who they conquered the podium and glory.

Nespoli and Boari to applause

Coni President Giovanni Malagò, Cip President Luca Pancalli and Undersecretary for Sport Valentina Vezzali will be the first to thank the archery medalists: the standard bearer of the Fiamme Oro, Lucilla Boari, who signed the first female medal in history of the Italian archery at the Games, Voghera’s airman Mauro Nespoli who, after four Olympic participations, won silver, the first individual podium that follows the second place team in Beijing 2008 with Galiazzo and Di Buò and all gold medal in London 2012 with Galiazzo and Frangilli. A champion who, as the director of Raisport said last Saturday presenting him in the Senate, boasts a palmares of over 30 international medals including Olympics, World Championships, Europeans and the World Cup. Those of Boari and Nespoli represent the eighth and ninth medals from Italian archery at the Games and that of Tokyo was the first time that Fitarco returned home with a double podium.

Paralympic successes

More than a winning tradition also with regard to the Paralympics: just think that the Azzurri have signed the tenth consecutive presence with at least one medal. To be precise, 3 arrived in Japan, two individual and one mixed team, thanks to the performances of three rookies and a veteran.
