The 46-year-old from Casei Gerola hopes to be called up to the national team for the round of the world championship to be held in Saas Fee in Switzerland next week

Gabriele Bagnoli finished in 20th place (out of 45 participants) in the fifth stage of the European Ice Climbing Cup held in Malbun in Liechtenstein. The 46-year-old former professional boxer from Casei Gerola has therefore worthily represented Italy in this racing circuit recognized by the Uiaa, the international mountaineering organization, of which he was the only blue in the competition.
«A European championship with the flavor of a world championship challenge, given the large and qualified participation of Americans, Russians and Japanese – explains the passionate climber from Oltrepadano – they were all ready for the world championship race scheduled for next week in Saas Fee , in Switzerland. I can be satisfied with the placement, despite the mistakes I made in qualifying, including the fall for not having hit the ice ax well in the wood of a barrel hanging overhanging ».
Bagnoli is now awaiting the blue call for the Saas Fee stage. “I’m looking forward to the call – he explains – returning from Liechtenstein, I can say that for a man like me from the plains, without training facilities to use and taking advantage of the little time I have left after work, the one obtained in Malbun is a result satisfactory and useful to improve myself in future races. Of course, I thank the coach Marco Servalli, former coach of the multiple South Tyrolean champion Angelika Rainer, and my partner Valeria who followed me in the principality ».
