Sassari, 18 May 2021 – As happened in the Scudetto final two years ago, it will be the “beautiful” – then Game 7 and this time Game 5 as it is a quarter-final – to determine who will win the Reyer Venice and the Dynamo Sassari and will complete the picture of the championship semi-finals, which have already landed in Milan, Virtus Bologna and Happy Casa Brindisi. Dinamo has in fact managed to cancel the second match point in Venice, imposing itself for 86-73 at the end of a race 4 that began with about twenty minutes late due to the breaking of a board in the warm-up and continued with a fluctuating trend to say the least. In the fourth quarter, however, the men of Pozzecco have definitely managed to find the key to the problem and to stretch in a winning way with the precious baskets of Marco Often (20 points), Eimantas Bendzius (25 points) and Filip Katic. Reyer, on the other hand, has the regret of not being able to kill the match in the third fraction, in which she had arrived up to +12.

The race

To pay the heaviest price of the mishap that occurred in the warm-up was the formation of De Raffaele, who in the first quarter struggled terribly to find the target (0/7 from three and 2/8 from two), finishing at -14 under the shots of Bendzius and companions that with Katic’s bomb at the start of the second fraction they even touched +17 (23-6). The entries into the field of Vidmar and especially Jerrells – formerly of the evening – have however changed the face of Reyer who has slowly regained confidence and fluidity, placing a 16-0 counterbreak who brought her back to the game. At the end of the time, the overtaking and the external +4 arrived, at the peak of an 11-29. After the break, Venezia continued to work well in rebounding and hammering the opponent’s basket reaching the maximum advantage on the 41-53 scored by Tonut from over the arc. In the moment of maximum difficulty biancoblu, however, Spissu and Gentile thought about scoring the baskets that have completely reopened the games for Dinamo, even able to equalize the score at 59 with 5 consecutive points from Katic. Pure confidence boost for the Sardinians who in the fourth quarter definitively resumed the inertia of the match and placed the winning paw thanks to Bendzius and Spissu.
