Rome, 6 July 2021 – After 17 years the Italian national basketball team back to Tokyo Olympics 2021. Success in Pre-Olympic Tournament of Belgrade allowed the Azzurri to return to the Games and return to the elite of international men’s basketball. Italbasket in fact it is one of the twelve teams that will take part in the basketball tournament. The team of Meo Sacchetti was inserted in the group B, where they will find themselves as opponents Australia, Germany e Nigeria.

The calendar of Italy foresees as the debut match the one against Germany, scheduled at the Saitama Super Arena in Tokyo on 25 July at 6.40 am Italian. The second match of the Sacchetti national team will take place 28 July at 10.20: opponent theAustralia. Closing of the qualifying round on July 31 at 6.40 against Nigeria.

The other groups
The other groups of the men’s basketball tournament at the Tokyo 2021 Olympics are composed as follows. Group A: United States, France, Iran and the Czech Republic. Group C: Spain, Argentina, Japan and Slovenia.
The rules
The regulation of the tournament includes the transition to quarter finals of the first two classified of the three eliminating groups, to which the two best thirds will be added. Instead, the last of the groups will be eliminated plus the worst third classified.
The other dates
I quarter finals they will all be played on August 3rd. The semifinals instead on August 5th. There final for gold and that for the bronze are scheduled for August 7th.
