Monza, the new football creature of the Silvio Berlusconi-Adriano Galliani tandem, closed 2020 with a budget of 26.76 million euros. According to what Radiocor has reconstructed, the last budget meeting of the club 100% controlled by Fininvest took note of the liabilities.
Thanks to the capital of the Berlusconi holding company, the loss will be covered since the meeting itself resolved to “cover it in full by partial use for the same amount of the capital payments item present in the shareholders’ equity”.

2020, it should be remembered, was a black year for the football sector, given that – with Covid – box office revenues, the main source of turnover, especially for the smaller clubs, fell. Monza, moreover, with a large-scale transfer campaign (in which the names of the former Milan players Kevin Prince Boateng and Mario Balotelli stand out) played a brilliant Serie B championship, ended in third place, even if the heavy defeat in the playoffs with last Monday’s Cittadella threatens to end the dream of promotion to Serie A prematurely.
Fininvest took over Monza in autumn 2018, paying € 2.9 million and – thanks to significant investments in the player pool, infrastructure and stadium – relaunched the club, bringing it first to Serie B (after dominating the Lega Pro championship. ) and this year one step away from A.
The income statement, however, at the end of 2018 saw a loss of 1.68 million and at the end of 2019 of 9.25 million. With a deficit of 26.76 million in 2020, between purchases and accumulated losses, Fininvest has spent a total of about 40 million euros to date for Monza.
