The Apu Old Wild West prepares its week of passion. It starts on Sunday, with the home match against Biella valid for the 26th round of the championship, then transfer to Cervia where on Friday 2 April the men from Boniciolli will face Forlì in the quarter-finals of the Italian Cup. With the possibility, in case of success on the Forlì, to extend the weekend in Romagna by one or two days.
Edilnol Biella is proving over time a little black beast for Udine, which is now trying to take revenge. In the first leg another trip: Biella, penultimate in the standings, took advantage of the dark period of the Old Wild West to seize the two points. It ended 80-62 and was one of APU’s worst games this season, with 30-17 remedied in the last quarter screaming for revenge. The return match is to be taken with a grain of salt, both for the experience of the first leg and because in the return Biella has shown itself to be growing: four victories in the last five games are a clear sign. The two points up for grabs are worth a lot, on the one hand there is Udine fighting with Verona to secure third place and access to the group of the big names in the second phase, on the other Biella that elbowing to save itself.
Easter week will be particularly compressed for the bianconeri, who on Thursday will set off to reach Cervia, home of the Italian Cup Final Eight. Yesterday the National Basketball League released the complete program of the event: APU will face Unieuro Forlì on Friday 2 April at 3 pm, with live streaming on LnpPass. If successful, on Saturday at 20.45, Udine will face the winner of the fourth between Turin and Scafati. In the lower part of the board the quarter-finals are Napoli-Orzinuovi and Tortona-Ferrara. The current feeling is that, prestige aside, the appointment comes at the wrong time. The prospect of playing three games in three days to win the title, in a season full of injuries, does not generate particular enthusiasm. It is a film that has already been seen: last November the APU landed at the Final Eight of the Supercoppa a Cento, and immediately returned home after losing against Forlì. Most likely it will be a question of stimuli, in the Cup will go on who will be more enthralled by the trophy. –
