Biella Next invents the “shoe bank”

by admin

They have renamed it “Shoe time”, a pun that sounds like that moment, in a basketball game, in which spectacular actions are good for the hearts and souls of the fans. And it is really good that we talk about, in this initiative by Biella Next, the club that has been taking care of the Edilnol nursery since this season: the “shoes” in question are basketball shoes, still in good condition and perhaps barely used in months of the pandemic, spent more closed at home than in the gym. The company has asked its boys to collect the ones they no longer use and deliver them to their coaches who in turn will undertake to redistribute them for free to anyone who needs them.

The warehouse of the building filled up faster than the rossoblù staff expected: “The boys immediately responded to our appeal – says Claudio Carofiglio, sports manager of the club and coach of the Under 18 team, almost ready for the championship of Excellence. -. The idea is not new and I had experienced it in some past experience in other cities. Now I’d like to try to involve the other teams in the area as well ». The basketball shoe is an object of desire for young fans of this discipline: every great champion, since the days of Jordan and his contract with Nike, signs a line. «And often – says Carofiglio – in the requests for gifts from children, during the holidays and for birthdays, there is precisely the latest model. This is why they often change them, as well as for growth, which soon makes them too small. If we add that in the last year, practically they have not been able to use them due to the lockdown, we imagined that there could be many pairs of almost new shoes in the closets of the houses ». On the other hand – and a coach knows this – there are also young players whose families do not have the financial resources to replace them so often, to make room for the latest generation model. Above all they will be, with all the discretion of the case, the beneficiaries of the initiative even if the distribution, according to the projects of the creators, will also go outside the team groups. To comply with any safety regulations, Biella Next has also invested in a sanitizer to be used on each pair of shoes before being returned to the new owners. The first to close in the autumn, when there were signs of the second wave of infections, but also the first to reopen in the winter as soon as the rules allowed it, the club of president Castelli received the compliments of Marco Atripaldi: “To give the boys the joy of returning to play – said the club manager of Edilnol – have invested in pads and controls. It was not obvious to do so ».
