Lecce, June 7, 2022 – Sentenced tolife sentence per Antony DeMarcothe young offender confessed to the double murder of the Serie C referee Daniele DeSantis and his girlfriend Eleonora Manta. The sentence was pronounced today by the judges of the Court of Assizes of Lecce, who however did not order daytime solitary confinement for a year as the prosecutor had requested.
The couple, 33 years old he and 30 her, were massacred with 79 stab wounds on the evening of 21 September 2020 between the landing and the internal stairs of the apartment in via Montello, where the two lived together. De Marco, a 21-year-old nurse at the time, had shared the apartment with the two victims for a period of time. De Marco committed the crime because he did not tolerate the happiness manifested by the two lovers.
“No sentence can ever fill the void who left “: were the only words uttered by dad De Santis. “I am very sorry that De Marco did not even try to ask for forgiveness or was unable to understand the gravity of what he did and to explain his gesture”, said the lawyer Renata Minafra, lawyer of the civil party of the sisters by Daniele De Santis. “They are devastated – he said -.
