Two distinct initiatives in Cagliari promoted by the Darwin Onlus Association and the ASD S’Animu: children and adolescents involved
CAGLIARI. Use the metaphor of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu to provide Support, Training and Information to children and adolescents to overcome the challenges and obstacles created by the phenomenon of bullying, preventing discriminatory stereotypes and dysfunctional violent behavior. These are the objectives of the projects “The Tooth of Jiu Jitsu” and “Be Brave – Jiu Jitsu to improve self-esteem and fight against bullying”, whose activities will start on June 30, respectively proposed by the Darwin Onlus Association. and from the ASD S’Animu.
The Tooth of Jiu Jitsu. “Il Dente del Jiu Jitsu”, coordinated by the Darwin Onlus Association, is funded by the Foundation of Sardinia and is aimed at children aged 10 to 13, ages indicated as “typical” for the onset of relational difficulties and discomforts. The project aims to provide experiences of socialization through sport with a series of interactive workshops focused on the analysis of experiences connected to the new classic forms of relationship and also to the new ways of digitized socialization through social media and the internet, promoting lifestyles aware and analyzing the dysfunctional phenomena connected to it (cyber bullying, technological addiction etc, bulling, mobbing, stalking, ghosting etc).
Be Brave. The project “Be Brave -Jiu Jitsu to improve self-esteem and fight against bullying” is coordinated by the ASD S’Animu and financed by the Italian National Youth Agency through the action of the Solidarity projects of the European Commission program “European Solidarity Corps”. The activities of the project, aimed at young people aged 13 to 17, want to use the metaphor of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu to offer information, training and support for the fight against bullying, increasing the self-esteem of the participants and stimulating the sport discipline and the values of it is linked such as friendship, solidarity, respect, discipline and equality.
The activities. The two projects, independent of each other, are carried out in cooperation by the two organizations due to the affinity of themes and objectives, even if they are aimed at different age groups, and carried out with the collaboration of the PGS (Polisportive Giovanili Salesiane). The activities will take place starting from the end of June and will last for about a month, involving dozens of young people in a mix of workshop, discussion and sports activities, which allow the boys and girls involved to socialize through sport (struggle and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu), working cooperatively on breaking down stereotypes and violent and bullying behaviors, seeking joint solutions and improving the self-esteem of those involved.
