Bufardeci and Firex, the marriage comes to an end

A time out of the coach Angelo Bufardeci

The coach from Oderzo leaves: “Too hard to reconcile everything with work, and I don’t want to always say” no “to my children any more”

Coach Angelo Bufardeci greets Handball Firex Belluno. The Sicilian coach who lives in Oderzo and works in Mestre has chosen to leave the management of the B team to devote more time to his family. The balance he draws, after two years in Belluno, is positive. And the growth prospects of the movement – he assures – are rosy.

«It’s been two years that I would define excellent, especially from the point of view of personal relationships. I met beautiful people and good guys. I was really good with everyone. I also had some good feedback from the guys who made me very happy. From a technical and sporting point of view, certainly more could have been done, but 18-20 months have been difficult for the whole sport and I have not always been able to do what it was my intention to do ».

But lately the results were starting to arrive …

«In fact, when we became familiar with the matches and the training sessions, the results began to show. Not only in terms of victories, but also in terms of the pace and intensity of the weekly workouts. In addition to the successes, you could see that the game was completely different and the boys were perky also from a psychological point of view, a sign that they were doing well ».

Where, then, does this consensual separation in Belluno come from?

«The choice was dictated by several reasons. The first is the fact that for me it had become too heavy a commitment that took too much time away from my family and my children. I live in Oderzo and work in Mestre: I already travel an hour and twenty by train every day to go to work. In addition, once I got home, I had to take the car every day and drive another two hours, between the two ways, to come to Belluno to train. It had become a psychological rather than a physical effort. It was sad to always have to say no to your children when they ask you: Dad, let’s play? “.

Are there also technical reasons?

«In Belluno we tried to focus more on the youth teams than on the first team, a choice that among other things I agree with. In the last two or three years some interesting young people have emerged and I am convinced that this is the path that society must take. In addition, the arrival of a technician like Darko Pranjic gave a jolt to the whole youth sector, in which a super job is being done ».

How long is there to wait to reap the benefits?

«For the fruits of labor, the juicier ones, I think it is still early. The result obtained by the U17 this year (the fifth interregional place, ed) is already beautiful, but I am convinced that in a couple of years the goals could be much more important. I leave a growing and constantly developing environment. Eddy Ortese is always on the spot, Darko is prepared and capable. And around there are willing leaders. We will have to continue making sacrifices, but the satisfactions will come “
