Also for this reason, says Romano Gregorio, director of the National Park, a project has been set up to create 37 bike sharing stations in as many municipalities, where it will be possible to collect and deliver pedal assisted bicycles. In perspective, Gregorio adds, they should become 47.
In addition to being recognized as a World Heritage Site as a cultural landscape, the Director emphasizes that the Park has also obtained recognition from UNESCO as a biosphere reserve and as a geopark. On the sea, the village of Pioppi, a hamlet of Pollica, houses the Museum of the Mediterranean diet, recognized by Unesco as an intangible heritage of humanity.
On the coast, the itinerary touches famous places such as the small village of Acciaroli, Palinuro, Marina di Camerota, the splendid Baia degli Infreschi. Inside, however, the ring leads to discover hidden corners such as the large sinkhole of Vallivona, a suggestive karst chasm, inhabited by luxuriant ferns; the Sella del Corticato; the jewel of the Certosa di Padula; the De Vargas castle in Vatolla, where Vico lived as well as the seat of the Foundation named after him; the abandoned village of Roscigno.

But despite such a rich offer, the numbers of the Via Silente are still small: about 500 steps recorded in 2020; about 300 in 2021. The real numbers, including the unregistered passages, could be more. But always few compared to the potential.
