CAGLIARI. 2020 sports merit gold collar: Cagliari will receive the coveted award this morning in Milan in a ceremony at the Laverdi Auditorium. Four years ago, the highest honor was awarded to Gigi Riva. In the past, the award had already arrived in Sardinia as a tribute to the historic Amsicora and Rari Nantes companies of Cagliari.
At today’s event, together with the president of Coni, Giovanni Malagò, and the general secretary, Carlo Mornati, will also be attended by the undersecretary with responsibility for sport Valentina Vezzali and the mayor of Milan, Giuseppe Sala.
For Cagliari a tribute to 100 years of history: the club was founded in 1920 by a group of students and the first match was played in the area of the current Piazza d’Armi. An award also to the 1970 championship which came in conjunction with the half-century of life. The communication of the assignment arrived last November with a letter addressed to the rossoblù president Tommaso Giulini and to the honorary president Gigi Riva. The Collare d’oro represents the highest sporting honor established by Coni. The Olympic Committee wanted to reward Cagliari for “the activity carried out and the merits acquired in a century of life”. (st.a.)
