The curtain has fallen on the Italian Canoe Kayak Championships held in Ivrea (Canoe Stadium last weekend, 28 and 29 August), it is time to take stock. The event organized by the Ivrea canoe club was excellent and attracted over one hundred athletes to the Dora Baltea river.

The technical point entrusted to Lorenzo Biasioli coach and technical coordinator of sports activities for the Ivrea club: “The test held on Saturday with the categories divided between junior and senior was faced with that serenity that led Lucia Pistoni, for example, to do excellent results even if, overall, the acute is missing. On Sunday for the Italian Championship I saw the boys – continues Biasioli – even more determined and motivated, on the home field. They sold their skin dearly. Simone Marchegiano, Elio Maiutto and Davide Ghisetti have obtained interesting results in C1 and this is a good omen in view of the world championships next year. Carolina Massarenti’s great growth for the Canadian female: motivated and on the podium. For the men’s kayak there were many of us in the race – continues Lorenzo Biasioli – with good results. To signal the arrival in the final and the placement obtained by Davide Ghisetti: a good weekend for him with a double final in K1 and C1, and by Matteo Pistoni. As a junior, entering the final in an overall is the culmination of an important year after participating in the World and European Championships. Behind very well the young people who in the next weekend, 4 and 5 September in Verona will compete for the tricolor of the category. A complicated year instead for those who have made the leap from junior to Under 23: they have taken those slaps that, sportingly, make them grow and mature. In women’s K1 Lucia Pistoni after the good performance on Saturday, in the absolute, was unable to catch the rhythm with the water and the path and did not hit the final. Good performance by Erica Piatti who finished in fourth place. In general I am happy – concludes Biasioli – with the team test. We are establishing ourselves in all races as the best company. This makes us really satisfied with the work done so far. The extreme where we participated en masse also did well: we must invest in this specialty which will be an Olympic discipline in Paris 2024 ». –
