Football is passion and fun, beyond all borders and categories. It seems like a cliché that has now lost its charm in a sport increasingly linked to money. This is not the case, however, for Mr. Alberto Cavasin. The Treviso coach, after almost three years away from the bench, was looking for a new challenge, fascinating and romantic. Ready to land in Africa, but in the end the coach has chosen Bari Sardo, a first-class team from Nuoro which represents a country of almost 4,000 souls. An unusual decision for a coach who had his say driving Lecce, Brescia, Treviso, Messina and Sampd in Serie A, just to mention some of Cavasin’s many experiences. «I arrived in Sardinia after a series of coincidences – explains the technician – I had wanted to return for a while, I had a few proposals and then the Bari Sardo one arrived: my passion returned and I chose to accept. I’ll be back on the pitch and have fun, as I’ve always done ». Cavasin never shied away from fascinating challenges: «I was ready to go to other continents – he continues – Almost two months ago I had the yellow fever vaccine because I was about to go to Africa but the agreement fell through. I was open to any experience, have fun in faraway places and live my work in different situations ».
However, what emerges almost immediately is that Bari Sardo is in the First Category, a level that could be defined as “low” for someone like Cavasin: “I don’t think about the category anymore, it doesn’t create problems for me and I don’t need the spotlight – replies l ‘coach – I have players who could be professionals, we do 5 training sessions a week and we have 7 or 8 foreigners: it is as if I coached in Serie A. I met various people, including the president, and in Bari Sardo football is very experienced. There is the sun, the fish and Sardinia is beautiful: this also led me to come but it is a secondary thing. Work comes first ».
Focusing on Cavasin as a technical guide could suggest that there is an important project behind him: “I live in the present – replies the coach – There is a project to create a synergy with neighboring clubs to be stronger economically but I know football and it takes very little to bring everything down. In the meantime, let’s bring this championship home ». Finally, Cavasin is not the only Treviso to land in Sardinia: «In my staff I wanted the collaborator Alberto Possamai. We are only the first but we will bring others ». –
