Accident during the International of the Immaculate Conception when a spectator crossed the path

ODERZO. Rain, mud, and so many extraordinary opponents were not enough. For Gioele Bertolini, one of the candidates for the victory of the International of Faè – the classic cyclocross on the day of the Immaculate Conception – the race has turned into anger: a spectator has completely ruined it, making him fall to the ground right in the climax of the battle.

There are the hinges, but also crossing points supervised by the staff. Just go through those gates, instead a boy who was observing the race decided to cross the path just as Gioele Bertolini was attacking the first places: he hit the spectator in full and ended up off the track, in the mud. The boy involved in the accident got up immediately and went back to the track, apologizing profusely to the injured athlete, for Bertolini some dents and the desire to get back in the saddle immediately.

In the end, the Oderzo race was won by the German champion Marcel Meisen, who hit the trio in the Marca (he had already won in 2015 and 2016) after more than an hour of battle in the Faè vineyards. At the foot of the podium, Filippo Fontana from Fregona, Bertolini accomplished a real feat and finished sixth.
